Carmelo Pappalardo is an Archaeologist (PhD obtained in 2015 at the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archeology in Rome). He is currently a researcher at the applied geography laboratory (LABGEO) of the University of Florence and Post-Doctoral fellow at the Institute of Archaeology of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He was Secretary of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archeology from 2012 to 2014, previously associate professor of Archeology at the Studium Biblicum Franciscanum – Faculty of Biblical Sciences and Archeology in Jerusalem from 2002 to 2012. Member of the Franciscan Archaeological Institute on Mount Nebo in Jordan since 1993 , was deputy director from 2002 to 2008 and director from 2008 to 2012. He has participated and directed archaeological field missions and restoration of the aforementioned Institute in Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Palestine, Israel. Furthermore, from 2008 to 2012 he was scientific director – on behalf of the Custody of the Holy Land – of the restoration project and new coverage of the Memorial of Moses on Mount Nebo (Jordan).
